Marker binding failure was created by telemack
I was touring with a friend yesterday and his brand-new rented Marker Tour F10 bindings snapped clean off behind the toepiece.  The rear part of the binding actually stayed on his foot but broke completely off the toe that was attached to the ski.  They had just been mounted new onto the rental ski the day before at Pro Guide Service, and hadn't even been pointed downhill.
Anyone else heard of breakage with these bindings?  I'm not sure, but the pieces that broke looked to be made of plastic.  Hopefully it was a fluke, but that is a major failure for a brand-new binding, even in its first season on the market.

Good to hear it was a rental!

The F12 sounded great to me, but i've learned not to be the guinea pig if i can avoid it! Marker is basically shaving a lot of weight off the baron/duke and using a very similar design. Since the baron/duke have failing parts, i would expect the f10/12 to produce some fun new failures! Post up pics if you have any, and make sure to post on TGR too.

Here's a couple pics of my latest Duke fail (summer 2010) which Marker fully waranteed:

Did these happen w/ wet heavy snow that built up under the ball of your feet? I had a pair of Free Rides rip right out of the ski because of that. So ever since, I have always taken the time to knock the snow out. I have been on the Marker bindings for 2 years now at 250lbs on skis w/ no problems, but have destroyed 3 pairs of free rides(just not heavy guys)

cars are lighter now, too. even a parking lot tangle can yield a total. is that so difficult to grasp?

No offense..
