An Evening with Warren Miller was created by Lowell_Skoog
About 500 people attended a sold-out evening with Warren Miller in the Recital Hall at Benaroya Hall list night. Warren seemed genuinely touched by the response and they announced at the end of the program that there would be an encore event on December 12. For details, check the following website:

Last night's evening was not a movie night. It was an opportunity for Warren to sit down with the audience and tell some of his stories. He made a few notes ahead of time, and at the end there were many stories that he hadn't gotten around to yet. So for those who missed last night's event (and even those who were there) it seems like Warren has no shortage of stories to tell. One of my favorites was his story about lashing Jean Claude Killy and Leo Lacroix ("like trophy deer") to the skids of a helicopter in New Zealand to get off Mount Cook before nightfall.

During breaks in the program they projected a few of Warren's vintage photographs on the big screen. Attendees also received a copy of Warren's book, "Wine, Women, Warren and Skis." Warren took questions from the audience for about an hour, and following the program there was a special "Ski Bums" session where you could talk to Warren individually and get your books signed.

Check the Warren Miller and Seattle Symphony websites if you're interested in the December 12 encore. Based on Warren's comments last evening, I think one of the best things the audience could do to show their appreciation (especially the ladies) would be to arrive at the show wearing tight stretchpants. :)

I was at the event last night too and really enjoyed it. I used to go to his movies but once he stopped narrating it, they lost their charm. As Lowell said, he had no shortage of great stories. It felt like you were sitting in his living room listening to him spin yarns. There were some very touching moments when he talked about his wife and the greatest female skier he ever saw - a little girl with spina bifida. He still has a great gift for making people laugh and excellent comedic timing. I would highly recommend it for anyone who loved his old movies.

Here is a recent Seattle Times article about Warren. Some of the topics he talked about last night are covered here.

Caveat: tight stretch pants--a privilege, not a right.

Looks like Benaroya Hall/Warren Miller want to know how much interest there is in an encore. There's a link with an email address for those interested in purchasing tickets for an encore.
Scroll down to the bottom of Warren's page for the link .
I missed out on the first round and would love to see him before he moves on with the tour.

Looks like a good time. Anyone know if there will be other shows outside Washington? I checked the website but didn't see anything....
