I toured around it in March 07. -10 the first night and ups and downs from there. It's a beautiful trek, but be prepared to give the rangers a date to initiate a rescue, deciding on where to park your car (on top and risk the rangers closing the road due to weather or at the base and having to "tour" up to the rim) and blisters blisters blisters.
The fog was so thick on the third day that we actually got lost ON THE ROAD. No joke. We stumbled around for hours looking for "the way", set up camp in frustration and the net day discovered that all was well. Also, the back side around Mt Scott had some avy paths must be negotiated and the snow accumulation is kinda crazy (the most in OR).
It's a beautiful place that is quite magical and benign, but when it gets a bur in it's ass - watch out!
- There is a little convenience store on the way from Bend where you can buy a fifth of liquor and a gun at the same counter. Talk about convenience

I skied there last 4th of July, got some great micro-mountaineering descents above the rim road.
There are 2 motels in Ft. Klamath that are good. There is a B and B too (Sun Mountain Ranch???)
that does mostly horse stuff but runs ski tours and maybe snomo trips.
Check Amar's site, of course.
