Cat Ski was created by Chris
After watching the 'pretty lame' video on the other post it reminded me that I'd sure like to try heli skiing or cat skiing one of these days.  I figure the latter would cost less and still be pretty fun.

I did a quick search of the board and didn't see anything right away but am wondering do any TAY'rs have recent feedback last few years on any of the cat operations whether local or a bit farther away?

I've considered going w/ the local guys and that might be easiest but have also heard positive about going to Canada.  Figured there's a few of you out there that could point me in the right direction.

Any info appreciated.

thanks,
Chris

That's a TR from a trip I went on last year with Cascade Powdercats, just west of Stevens Pass. Great time, despite hideous snow conditions.

Years ago I went to Points North.  They were in their third season or so, and were quite adventurous in their approach, and hospitable to their guests.
I was in the company of some world class athlete's and and film crews (which was pretty cool in itself), but PNH made sure everyone was being taken care of.
I called around to talk to most of the major ops and found it endearing that Kevin Quinn (owner/operator) was the guy that called me back and was stoked to chat about his facilities and operations.  Totally willing to answer ?'s.  Those guys just loved hosting guests, and providing them with a memorable visit.

But, yeah, It's expensive, and although they made every effort to go fly, the weather is never a guarantee, and the plane ticket alone is spendy.

If I did something like that again, I'd like to try cat skiing @ Reve.  Cool town, lots of options inbounds and out, driveable, core ski town vibe, lots o' snow, and they claim to be the "Cat skiing capital of the world"!  (I don't doubt it)  -Crazy Canadians.

Although I likely won't do it again, if you want to go Heli skiing in AK, you've got to go heli skiing in AK.  Cat skiing is not Heli skiing in AK.

Did a trip to Mount Bailey in Central Oregon about ten years ago. We lucked out and were in a very experienced group that included a couple of guides from Tahoe and we were able to get in over 20,000 vert. Our guide (Neil) found us some great stashes despite no new snow for almost a week before our trip. I think it is under new owners now so not sure how it is now.

Went cat skiing with Mustang Powder Cats west of Revelstoke in April. Highly recommended - great terrain, snow and guides. They brag about getting almost as much vertical as heli-skiing because of efficient snow roads and fast cats.
Worth a try!
