Winterfest 2010

Each year the Hurricane Ridge Winter Sports Education Foundation hosts Winterfest, a fundraising event  that supports ski education at “the Ridge.”.The proceeds from Winterfest provide scholarships for ski school and ski team participants who could otherwise not afford to participate in these activities. Additionally, equipment necessary to provide ski education  is funded by this event, for example  a new grooming machine, replacement lift motors and replacement ropes. For the last several years, we have raised more than $30,000 annually.

This year’s Winterfest will be held on Friday, November 19th , 2010 at the Vern Burton Center. The doors open at 5:00 pm. The evening will consist of a prime rib dinner, wine and beer garden, entertainment by the Port Angeles High School Jazz Band, live and silent auctions and a presentation of this year’s TGR film, “Light the Wick.”

Winterfest usually attracts about 250 local skiers and riders along with their friends and family. The food is good, the beer is cold and the vibe  relaxed. It’s a great chance to get to know the Olympic Peninsula skiing community.

The following day, Saturday, November 20th is our annual ski swap. Although this is mainly a local event, Kitsap Sports from Silverdale annually brings a rather large selection of gear and apparel  that is priced to sell.
