When does a ski season begin?

For a TAY'er does it really ever end and if so how can it begin?
For me this was a great observation. Up to this summer I was a Turns all Yearer and the distinction of when the season began and ended became blurred to me. I was proud of being being a TAYer but somehow skiing shitty snow in Aug and September was becoming less meaningful and more of a chore and somehow diminished the love of the sport I had developed.
When I decided to stop my streak somebody said to me" so you're losing interest in skiing ". It made me think and my answer was that no ,in fact my love for skiing was only increasing.
So I took nearly 4 months off and for ME it made the recent new snowfall and skiing some pow in October way more meaningful and really felt more like a season opener than it has in the last 7 years.
So for me now, season opener means when the first snow falls where I can get some pow turns and get back on skis after the summer hiatus. It feels good and I'm glad I took the summer break.

You might try some narrow skis. Something with a 70ish waist ,straighter side cut and stiffer. Makes a world of difference.

Robie ,I have a pair= Rossi B2's. Narrow skis make the suncups and gritty shitty snow feel like corduroy! Yeah right! :

Sadly, this season (like scotsman's) there was a significant lack in Aug, Sept, and even (sharp intake of breath) October. Getting out in a couple of days though. I loved the feeling of the "endless season". I missed it, miss it, and hope to get it back. Chore or not.
Hats off TAYers. Here's to your endless season - no end, no beginning.

Even though it wasn't exactly a deep pow day, it was my first time on skis since climbing Hood July 4th!
Being able to skin right out of the parking lot is so gnar.
