Newb help with ski sizing

Trying to get together an AT setup for this winter. I've been looking at a few different pair of K2 Shuksans. I see lengths in 174, 181, and 185. The 185's are 107/75/98, in great shape and a great deal. I'm about 6'3" and 180lbs with out gear. Would these be a good size for a beginning skier or should I look for the smaller sizes to learn on. Thanks

In general - you are quite tall so 185 should be good.

However, I see most experts here recommend fatter underfoot.

I went and picked up the skis this morning, they are the older shuksans with BD skins, both in great cond, mounted with fritschi T2 bindings for $150. Couldn't pass up the deal, even though I noticed these are 190's! I'll give them a shot but keep my eyes open for a shorter ski to swap the bindings to.

You replied while I was replying. As an older but new skier myself, I was going to tell you to go for it. You'll probably going to do a lot of floundering anyway and a cheap entry is the ticket. Some "experts" with fat skis will stay home playing Wii if the powder isn't deep but the Shuksan will get you into the game. Have fun and be safe out there.

Look for a fatter ski not shorter! Sorry but you asked! 75 mm waist is way too narrow for PNW winter touring and skiing and you will be much better served to get a wider ski.
They will be OK for the corn season so worth holding onto.
I have to get back to my Wii now and wait for deepness.

and as it turns out, some experts, with fat skis went skiing today.  Getting ready is one thing, getting out is another
