Anyone ever book a trip with Chugach Powder Guides?  My friends and I are considering their 2 days of cat skiing/2 days at Alyeska combo as a big four O group celebration.  Just looking for some feedback as to terrain and quality of the operation.

Never skied with them but the terrain around Alyeska is superb . Only problem with Alyeska is it is plagued by bad visibility and in the early months, flat light. Depends what time of year you are planning. Usually later in the season late Feb/ March better than early unless you hit a high pressure system.

Scotsman-thanks for the reply.  We are planning for the end of March.  It also looks like I may not be able to catch a return flight on the final day until midnight.  This would give me full day to plan a tour in addition to the snowcat and Alyeska days.  Any recommendations for a good tour out of Girdwood?

Out of Girdwood no. I would drive another 30 mins on the road to Seward to Turnagin Pass.
Plus drive is spectacular.
This is one of the hotspots of AK touring and there will be other people touring there and you can use an established skin track which is what I did.

Left side of the road: touring only, right side snowmobile assist( Facing Seward)
Popular tours such as Magnum and Sunburst are fantastic.

Check avy conditions.

Heres' a youtube video showing persons unknown on Sunburst.

Theres also a good thread on Telemarktips called " Alaska snow and ski conditions" that has a lot of locals posting about ski tours, avy conditions and tours at Turnagin.
This year's thread is just getting started here.

check last year's thread.. lots of good information amongst the chit chat.
