for those that do wanna ski in Mtneering boots, theres a company that is producing a modern variant to Ramer's old 'Motiv-aider' boot cuffs

..that being said, there are several lightweight low-cuffed randonee boots that are dynafit compatible and only a few ounces heavier than a pair of Koflachs.

Good deal. I think I'll go to Marmot and rent a pair of AT skis and give it a try before I make ANY purchases...

...the original Ramer's really did look like they coulda been made from orthopedic braces

Thanks for the welcome and by the way, I have had Avy 1 & 2 so I'm good there... yes, no backcountry without thinking avy.

Glad to be part of the board! I've done tons of climbing and glacier travel - just no ski mountaineering...
