Thanks for sharing the results of your experimentation. A friend of mine who has become quite an avid runner (barefoot, FWIW, different subject) has been urging me for some time to give these a try and I finally picked up a bag about a month ago. Since then they've become a daily staple in my diet. I have a glass in the morning and they do a great job of smoothing out the energy dip after the morning coffee wears off. I'm not as organized with my preparation though. I generally just dump them in a glass and stir them periodically for ten minutes or so and then send them down the tube. I'll have to give your method a try.
Although they are of the same genus, I think there may be significant differences between Salvia Hispanica and Salvia Divinorum. Not to say that Chia seeds have no effect on one's mental state. To me, they seem to produce an effect similar to caffeine, but without the shakiness and the subsequent, previously mentioned, energy crash.
