Dynafit brakes - do you like 'em?

I used to hate 'em. My recent setup has Dynafit FT12s for the last 22 months or so and the brakes on these seem to work. Personally I can't stand leashes. Used to go without leashes and brakes but not doing that right now.

Any evidence out there that the breakaway system (or zip ties) works as intended?

i.e., it actually releases in an avalanche early enough to not negatively affect where you end up, while also being useful during more minor binding releases?

FWIW, the brakes on my Vipecs seem to work well enough. And I'm a frequent in-bounds yardsaler.
