Never have used a lurk, but imagine it would be a great tool for the tele skier ~ think I'll give it a go this winter. Could be a bit of a bummer on those tree runs, though..

Good point about tree-skiing, David. I haven't tried it, but it looks like it would be a definite disadvantage on crusty snow going uphill or crossing flats, also breaking trail or recovering from falls in deep snow.

" Great for ALpine Skiers also"
Can you imagine the carnage at Crystal during a rush off the lift during a powder frenzy or somebody skiing down the cat track with a 6 ft pole sideways.
Could make a nice bong though for smoking weed!

Sort of related...
One big powder day about two seasons ago I happened to drop my poles from the Armstrong lift.
As it was early in the day and there were still first tracks to be had, I chose to do a full lap and pick them up the next time I cycled through. What I wasn't expecting was how surfy and cool it felt to ski in deep snow without the poles. I don't really know how to describe it other then to say that by having my hands free things just seemed to feel like they flowed more? I have since thought that a lurk might feel similar.
