Do people still use Swix Klister or is it old school stuff?

Alright Jack way to get to the roots.
This stuff still works and is appropriate for low angle ski approaches in wetter or refrozen snow. It's not something that I would smother on my XC skis tip to toe (maybe as an April Fool's joke to an unsuspecting soul), but in the kick area under foot. About a 10-18 inch under foot.
The main problem is that it is snow temp specific and snow can tend to build on the ski when temps swing or hit colder conditions in shade. I have not used them on anything but XC wax metal edge skis.
In my experience, the klister wax can get to be messy like getting pink bubble gum on the bottom of your sneakers followed by near permanent case of Tourette's syndrome. Sucked to clean off too.
I have not returned to using klister in 25 years if that indicates my liking and I don't foresee a purchase in the near future either.
Kick wax on the other hand is another story and can be pretty useful and not as messy.

Thanks for the information. When I was salvaging stuff from the Hyak rental building I grabbed a case of Swix Klister (I think it comes in red/blue/silver and maybe yellow?) and was checking to see what I would do with it. I don't do a tremendous amount of XC so if there is anyone out there who needs some LMK. I have maybe 25 or so tubes still in boxes with the applicator.

I have a dana designs backpack that is smothered with red klister.
So it must have a half life of twenty years. Or so I hope!
The specialists around these parts is MD 2020 and his constant companion Brenda. Kick wax rules for approaches and deproaches
Extra blue no 40. gotta be cold. Steve Barnett would have a lot to say also.

You could probably use that Klister to caulk a boat, cabin or sumthin'. Keep away from ski bases that you want to remain in good shape...or who knows, maybe it improves w/ age
