Good looking pictures by Jason Hummel in the season opener edition of Backcountry.
Both shots are of the tireless walkingman Kyle Miller.
Excellent shots Jason!
It looks to me in the splitboard shot that Kyle has two skis on real close together.
Also an interesting feature story on poster Kam (Kam Leang). His study of nanomaterials application to skis and their dampening effects. Sweet making materials lighter and damper. Need to find an application so the materials become mainstream like Gore-Tex.
I like the color changing topsheet. It would be interesting to make a topsheet that would turn the color of the wax needed for the day. Or just a mood ski (like the mood ring), but mine would be usually in a pretty good mood unless someone bootpacks my skintrack, traverses the middle of a sweet line. Ironically, Kam teaches at the University of Nevada, also where my sister is a professor and Dr in heath sciences nutrition department.
Congratulations to you TAY contributors.

Yes, good shots and action by our local boys.
Now I know why Kam skied that nanopatch shown in his last TR.
Isn't this the earliest the gear guide has arrived to make us whine, drool, and generally ache for freshies?!

it would be cool if they did a segment on T-A-Y, w/ how achieved, summer turns, etc.

It's nice to see that Washington has more backcountry than the Mt Baker slackcountry.
Does anyone know of any stores that sell the magazine?

Also sold (along with a great selection of microbrews to go) at Backcountry Essentials in Bellingham.
