It was on King5 news last night so it must be true.
The La Nina" expert " they had on says its a two year cycle so whoooopeeeee.

Also, I am weekly consulting with a local backwoods expert ( a TAYer) who uses empirical data for forecasting and he says the
LOCAL SQUIRREL ACTIVITY INDEX( LSAI) is at an all time high and the the little buggers are quite exhausting themselves this year scurrying around doing squirrel things.
He rates the LSAI at 8/10.
Last year his LSAI was only 5!

He is still working on his HOW WOOLY IS THE CATERPILLAR THIS YEAR ( HWITCTY) index but I expect his HWITCTY index reading soon.
It's looking good but like MR Greenspan says it could be " irrational exuberance"

Sorry to hear that Zap. Hope you recover very quick. However being an opportunist.. can I borrow your van then for some early powder road trips until you heal?????

Scotty,

Thank you for the kind words and very considerate offer on the van.  Unfortunately, the campervan decided after 10 years and 190,000 miles that it needed to be repowered.  So, the van is also having some surgery now and hopefully will return to action soon.   ;)

While sitting around, I have noticed a high LSAI.  Perhaps we need regional spotters to confirm which areas have a high LSAI which could lead to localized "powder stashes".   ???

The North Pacific water temperature shift was clearly evident as we made our annual Labor Day week surf trip to Tofino - definitely the coldest water for that week in years. The locals were all already surfing hooded.
