Thanks for the post; awesome trip. It reminds me of Jackrabbit Johanson and Showshoe Thompson, but in a nearer century.

I wonder if Jack Meissner knew of Orland Barthowlemew's Sierra traverse in 1929. Another high solo Adventure which included the first winter ascent of MT Whitney. "High Odyssey" is the book recounting his trip.

That's very awesome! Especially thought this interesting. From the article, "...Pilots saw no signs of distress and dropped food and two carrier pigeons, which would deliver messages from the travelers to Eugene...." How times have changed. Loved the story.

Both Jack Meissner's and Orland Barthowlemew's traverses are epic ski trips. Orland's adventure was totally self-supported, no air drops, if I am correct. Reading stories like these is what inspires me the most, so thank you rootsman for posting the link.
