Has Anyone Summer Skied Whistler? was created by Larry_Trotter
I am headed up to Whistler June 18 for a long weekend. Hard to believe that I have never skied Whistler.
Anyway, how does one get to Horstman Glacier for Summer skiing? Does a lift ticket cover the ride all the way from the village to the glacier? Is it all T-bars when you get up there?
I figure it will be pretty cold up on the mountain. I will be packing skis and my bicycle.

I haven't skied there yet either, and just learned that lift will be open end of June - July (in my Muir - Whistler thread)
Seems Muir snowfield is deemed better by Telemon, so this is where I'll go this weekend. I'll probably try Whistler once the lift opens, though - just to see for myself.
Cheers

I haven't actually skied Whistler in the summer, but my understanding is that you are limited to the Horstman Glacier and you will be sharing that relatively small space with ski/boarding camps.I believe that you are looking at similar conditions to what you would find above Timberline Lodge on Mount Hood during the summer months. Here is the official info from W/B

Well... somebody's gotta do this. I will report back if I get up there. Hope it's not a fog report.

I've done it a couple of times. You take the chair up from Blackcomb daylodge, then a bus around the mountain to the 7th Heaven lift, then the chair to the top. From there you ski the T-bars only (and typically about 85% of the hill is off limits (reserved for race and freeride camps). It's usually only decent from about 10:00 AM to noon or so. Yes, your ticket covers all transportation and is usually about half of what they charge in-season. Lots of Japanese snowboarders in full winter gear.
You'll probably get bored after about 5 or 6 runs, but worth it from a novelty standpoint.

Awesome! Thanks for the intel Greg!
5 or 6 runs is more than I get now (skinning) and there are relatives in Vancouver so this is a no-brainer for late July
Cheers
