Hmm, Muir is really fun when conditions are good.

I've been daytripping to Heliotrope Ridge quite a bit lately - conditions were absolutely stellar yesterday. Hike for an hour, hit the snow, skin for an hour or two to the ridgetop. I would turn around by 11am or so.

Muir is better if you're solo - as no glacier travel required. You don't have to travel on the Coleman Glacier at Heliotrope Ridge, but there are quite a few fun runs that way.

I'd go to Muir rather than Whistler. But I'd rather go to Heliotrope Ridge, if I had the choice.

The real question is: is the snow at Whistler worth it at this time

The real question you want to ask is whether Whistler would let you take your skis up to the snow even if it was better than Muir. The answer is, if you haven't already phoned W/B, negative. Now if you want the answer as to whether to lift ski a small section of the Horstman Glacier in July versus earning turns on the Muir Snowfield, I would still reply negatively.

Thank all for the feedback!
