Found retro skis, bag, and poles

A buddy and I skied up to Suntop on the FS Road Sunday. About a foot to 3 feet of snow mostly continuous to the lookout at the summit. Good mellow road tour. The snow melted out quite a bit from my view point on East Peak last week. Even though it was a lower elevation tour, Not much of a ski down (1100vf) of sloughing slush, but as always when clear, amazing views! A lot of snow on the road to Ellinor still.
BTW the waxless Karhu XCD's work like charm.

Any who...on to the point....
On our drive down we noticed someone had planted a pair circa 1984 Dynamic VR27 skis on the side of the road. Saddled with a pair of perfectly, fresh day-glo Scott poles (still a price tag and sizing on the handles) and finished the set off with a matching VR27 ski bag!
Really odd! We did not notice the setup on the way up since the skis and poles were upright in a cross.
We tried to figure out scenarios why someone would leave an old, mint pair of downhill skis, poles and bag on the side of a FS road?
Any ideas? We thought maybe a scavenger hunt?
We left them since there may have been a purpose other than littering the side of a FS road.
