Try Google: "webcindario spam".  Their site has been hacked and the messages you are receiving are phishing attempts.

As you all had figured out, the PM you received from "JosephWard" was bogus. The account was newly created with no posts, and apparently the spammer thought he would have better luck sending PMs than just posting spam. That account (plus another with similar characteristics) has been banned and deleted. Sorry for the hassle.

FYI: We have had in place for about three years a screen in the registration process which appears to be 100% effective at preventing "bot" registrations and spam, but if a human is going to go to the trouble there is not much we can do to stop them before they strike. The best response is just as everyone did today: contact the admins and do NOT click on any links in the spam post or PM.

If a PM does not come from "Charles" or "Marcus", then it is not from a forum administrator.

We normally protect IP addresses very diligently, but in this instance the spammer's behavior overrides the right to that protection.

Here is the message that is being sent out to people who are contacting us about the spam PM.
We received a large number of contact emails from TAY forum members about
a Trip Reports forum PM from "JosephWard". The PM is bogus and was sent by
a spammer, not TAY administrators, as most of you deduced. We believe the
spammer simply registered a forum account and used the PM system as can
any other member, and that the system is not "compromised".

Please do not click on any links in the PM, and simply delete the PM.

We have banned and deleted the spammer's account, and taken other steps to
deny access to anyone using the spammer's IP address.

For more information, please see this thread on TAY forum:
www.turns-all-year.com/skiing_snowboardi...72.msg68409#msg68409

If you do not feel safe clicking on the link, just go to the Trip Reports
forum > Random Tracks > "SPAM Message. Legit?" [thread]

We apologize for this inconvenience. We have taken strong steps to keep
spam "bots" out of the forum, but it is very difficult to proactively stop
a determined human spammer.
