Kyle Miller has agreed to haul the rootbeer up to the Cambell Basin lodge if someone supplies the goods. Sunday May 2nd is the day. What else could you possibly need to know.

(from the 2009 6th annual Crystal Fest thread)

Its that time of year again 8)
Ron J, whasup?!?!?

As has been pointed out here by snowball it appears that Kyle has stepped up to the line and ID'd the date that he would haul up the refreshments.

See the following thread:
(pointing to this thread)
Disclaimer: I'm not the organizer. I'm just pointing out the earlier thread.

:) This can be a fun topic when it comes to the question "So WHO IS the organizer?"
Social media has opened a whole new can of worms for law enforcement and other bureaucracies responsible for regulation and permitting of various types of gatherings in various types of places. I was having a discussion of the topic with a government employee not long ago and pointed out that with the internet, texting and tweets social gatherings can form through a sort of spontaneous combustion wherein no one person is responsible or can be held accountable. I can only imagine the nightmare that raves cause for police officers when virtually hundreds of kids convene on an abandoned warehouse somewhere with just a few hours notice.
But then I drift off topic at hand (thanks to Lowell :))

Isn't May 3 a Monday ???
I want to haul the rig and will pony up, but May 2 is a big anti-nuke rally in Seattle and many other cities so I'd go for the 8th or 9th.
BUT an earlier post said May 2, so do what gets done.

Ahh... Telemack. It appears the source of your "date of Sunday" confusion is that you're looking at the proposed date for last year's 2009 6th annual event and considering the calendar for this year's 2010 7th annual Crystal Fest.
These spring weekends do seem to fill up fast. We'll have about 40 or 50 bc skiers tied up (pun intended) either as students or instructors in Darryl's Mounties crevasse rescue class the weekend of the 24th and then a similar crowd will be tied up for the 13th annual Silcox/Mt Hood climb and ski trip on May 2nd (guess that leaves us out for the anti-nuke rally as well  ::))
But as I mentioned in the 2009 thread when Justin stepped up to the line, it seems to me the first one to volunteer to get things done should have the biggest vote on the timing.
One thing I like about this gathering that I've never mentioned before is that both Kircher/Crystal and the FS seem to turn a blind eye to this event and for that I respect and appreciate them both. Possibly a contributing factor is that at all the events that I have attended not a trace could be found of the event having taken place there after the final attendees departed -- not a scrap of paper; all the outdoor tables back where they belonged. Backcountry skiers are generally a responsible lot, and I think that bodes well for the continuation of the event... that and the fact that we all seem to be returning home with our full health and faculties; that probably helps, too  :)

I'm game but someone MUST supply a sled preferably of the motorised kind.

Oh you have changed your tune. I can probably get it up here with a snomo.

Hmm...  As Ron J said:

That may end if somebody shows up with a snowmobile. I recommend against it.

In years past, I have brought a kiddie sled rigged for team hauling for said beverage container.
In addition to being a fun exercise, it was a good team building prop and made for numerous good conversations, friendships and a common purpose. What is more of a common goal than getting something heavy up to the top of a hill? I also liked the notion of human powered motion and activity and I think it reflected favorably on the human powered uphill phenom that flows through T.A.Y.
For the last 3 years or so, I have headed up date selection and have contributed to beverage logistics. I pinged Kyle and RustyKnees and notified them that I was unable to take on that role this year. Kyle ran with that flag, and I support whatever he chooses to do in that self made and self selected role. I have had a great time with this project in years past yet I am happy to pass the torch and am confident that it will continue in the years to come so long as there is interest and passion towards making it happen.
With that said, I would be happy to provide a kiddie sled with appropriate rigging to this project. On a more personal note, in an uphill heavy sled hauling race between me and Kyle Miller, I would bet on Kyle every time.
