I only use 91 octane premium gasoline. Get race gas if you can for extra cleaning power.

As a child, my brother and I loved climbing trees, and I remember my mom using butter to clean the pitch out of our hair and off our hands, don't know if it would work on skis though.

Ski firm, cut up, refrozen snow.
Oh, wait... There's none of that around right now.
Try just skiing deep blower pow. It's worth a shot!

JB - your correct that using wax is the healthiest for the ski base as it will not dry out the base as much. Though AT/Tele bases use a denser P-tex be careful when you use a metal scraper, or even plastic, as it can take off base material with the wax. Your heating the base of the ski as well as the wax.
For best results use a warmer wax or all temperature!
The citrus solvent, etc. all seem to work good and maybe the best option if you have older skis that don't seem to be cleaning up any other way.
Then you get get the bases ground and edges tuned for more fun on your skis!

I use citrus cleaner and a rag -- usually does the trick. You can also give the skis a hot wax and scrape them while the wax is still hot.
