Avy at Mission Ridge was created by snowdawg
Two kids got caught in an inbounds slide at Mission Ridge and were dug out by a friend who happened to have a shovel to build a jump. They are lucky to be alive.

This was reported by NWAC in the Sunday bulletin. The article is poorly written and doesn't give an accurate account of the incident or description of the location.

glad they are ok! 7 minutes to get to two victims is pretty amazing for a young guy even if they were only partially buried

I checked out the slide on my way out touring east of Mission Ridge today, the picture doesn't do it justice. With the weird snow and wind patterns we've had this year the Outback area has freaked me out a bit. I took a short ride in a spot that rarely has wind loading, and it slid exactly the same two weeks later. There was another slab like the boys were buried in just down the ridge from there a week ago. I've avoided the natural half pipe were the incident occurred all this season because it's collecting too much snow and the lee side of the gully is very steep and it is quite deep. I've told my daughter to not go out there without me. I've been waiting for something like this to happen.
