Mt Hood recommendations? was created by ski_photomatt
Never skied on or near Mt Hood and we are heading down there this weekend.  I know next to nothing about the mountain.  Looks like we'll be staying near Welches, so something near 26 or 35 looks like the best bet.  Another big storm is forecast for Friday so something like a 35 degree 2000 ft north facing old growth powder run would be the ticket  ;)  We are experienced backcountry skiers capable of making our own snow evaluations in the field.  Any suggestions?

I've been BC skiing around Hood for the last 8 years and the one thing I can tell you is, people are pretty secretive about where they ski. So, you probabaly wont get many people to anounce any beta or secret locations around Mt Hood over the web.

There is a guide book, "BC Ski Oregon" by Christopher Van Tilburg that can point you in the right direction.

Have people forgotton that there are things such as MAPS. Yes I tell you paper maps!!!!!!They reveal  a lot if studied closely!
