I'm still baffled by how they ran into a car to ask directions?

Highway 410 is plowed in winter from the east to the point where Morse Creek crosses the road. Morse Creek itself has been a ski destination for Naches and Yakima skiers since the 1930s. So they might have run into a skier, or just somebody out for a sight-seeing drive.

These two guys should count themselves quite lucky. They went through a clear, almost full moon night and into a bluebird , stellar day.

If the weather had been different (ie; blowing storm conditions) they may have turned into popsicles, and we'd be reading two obituaries.

They should rethink their next outing and try to prepare a little more carefully. Like carrying a topo map and compass at the very least.

Better yet, if you are not familiar with an area, try to find someone who is and go with them.

I can't wait to read their trip report.
That's a heck of amount of ground to cover in one full day without skins.

You've got to be kidding??? Seriously?
Forgive me if I have been laughing about this...
I've just pictured them skooching along for hours.

Really though, what gear were these clowns on?

There was a rumor -supposedly overheard from a 'troller or someone in the know - at xtal yesterday that something was not quite right about their story (no shit!).

I still am completely mystified by the 'fact' they didn't ask the driver for help or that the driver didn't offer it.

I guess the truth had to surface eventually. The two Vermonters were actually "deep " in cover in an attempt ( succesful I may add) to prove the existance of a secret NPS winter retreat complex embedded deep with the MRNP away from prying eyes and paid for by the money they save by not opening Sunrise  road early.
The Ohanpaecosh Pleasure Complex, known within the NPS by the psuedenom "  The Training Center" and secret until now features lavish accomodations and makes Gomorrah look like a boy scout camp seemingly. ( I was going to compare it to Sodom but thought better of it given the circumstances. ;) ) These two brave lads will be vinidicated when their full report surfaces.

I didn't realize that was even a secret!
