I've always been suspicious of plastic shovels and this article confirms my worse fears.  Any other stories to support or refute the use of plastic shovels?

Had one once - broke it while shoveling my truck out of the driveway, replaced it under warranty and now it stays in the truck.

Due to the lexan blade, far better on the paint job than any other shovel around. Good for scraping off the car. A WWII entrenching tool for digging out the wheels when it gets deep and icy.
If there are a lot of shovels in the party, similar properties for digging out tent.
Not so great when you really need a shovel.
