2 snowshoers survived 24 hrs buried a few years ago in the Mt Baker area. Unfortunately a third one did not survive. I have never heard details about what enabled them to survive. Any one know?
Okay just quickly from memory. Roadside grading created an air gap for them. The guy in the group was actually able to dig out after 24 hours and dig out the others too I think. I also think it was reported that the two that lived were able to get at the food/water they had on them and so stayed just a little warmer? The third unfortunately couldn't and I think her cause of death was hypothermia ...
