Dog friendly snow camping? was created by Merk
Does anyone out there have any information/suggestions on where in the Cascades/Olympics you can snow camp with a dog? We're just looking for a 2-day overnight tour with a view and maybe a peak to bag in the process. Hope to get some feedback, Thanks!

You can take them pretty much anywhere that doesn't involve a National Park, with the exception of the Enchantments/Stuart Range. I'd go where the weather is best -- east side of the crest, or maybe something up across the way from Crystal in the Norse Pk Wilderness.

Speaking of east side access: given the current low snowpack, does anyone know the status of the Teanaway River Road?  Can it be driven further than normal or is it gated/closed to wheeled vehicles at the usual spot?

edit: You might want to check out the Mtn Loop area too, according to the roads report, you can still drive well up the North fork of the Sauk, which accesses a lot.

Blewett Pass, up from Tronsen Meadows around the Diamond Head area? We had our pooch up there on Saturday and there's plenty of great skiing, lots of places to camp and nothing that isn't dog friendly, as long as you stay in the non-motorized areas.

In response to the question reagarding the Teanaway Rd - the road is closed at 29 Pines CG. I don't know what the usual closure point is since I'm new to the area, but I did drive up there just last weekend

Thanks for the tips so far, really appreciate it. I like the sound of Diamond Head, may have to check that one out...
