AAI out of Bellingham may run a Foraker trip.  Give them a call.  Also I have a bunch of photos from a trip several years ago on my blog.  alasdairturner.blogspot.com/   Scroll down a bit.  I just scanned these old slides a few weeks ago.

Those are some stunning photos of the Alaska Range.

Travel across relatively flat, but broken glaciated terrain can be as technical as moving on vertical rock, and the consequences of mistakes can be just as severe. Safe, efficient travel through high altitude, high-angle, glaciated terrain requires *extensive* knowledge.

For a climb like Foraker, hiring a guide is the right approach if you already have a lot of mountaineering and climbing experience, but maybe don't have a lot of huge mountain experience. If you don't have a lot of mountaineering and climbing experiencing, I don't think you'll find many guides willing to take you up a mountain like Foraker.

Depending on the working philosophy of your prospective guide, client knowledge/skill can be a very important part of the safety of a guided party. A guide might be willing/able to babysit a client on a trip up a small mountain, but would most likely be completely unwilling to take a client up a mountain as big as Foraker if any babysitting were required.

I have no idea about your level of experience, but you should consider the following:

1. What is your experience with safety systems for rock climbing?
2. What is your experience with safety systems for glacier travel?
3. What is your experience with safety systems for snow climbing?
4. What is your experience with safety systems for ice climbing?

Thanks to all for the replies to my post. Very valuable information. The last week I have been doing all lot of research and a few phone conversations. I think, I am going to take a Alaska prep mountaineering course from AMS. I hope this just reaffirms my skills and acclimates me to Alaska prior to a either Denali or Foraker. Plus it just seems to fit my work schedule better. Rather find it's not for me at that time rather at 17,000 ft.

Again a whole lotta thanks. Happy Boxing day ! See ya on the Mtns. I am currently in Hood River planning a tour or two on Hood.
