So, it sounds like the 168s are the way to go, yeah? I think "meadow skipping" is probably the most apt description of what I'm likely to do with these! Seriously, though, I'm such a terrible skier that if it's technical or steep I'll probably AT. So, does a 140lb guy with a light pack need 170cm skis, even if he's 6 ft?

As far as the binding, well, I think for now I'd probably avoid a 3-pin binding. I really can't foresee myself learning to tele for the next several years; I just want a ski system that I can use for a pretty broad range of conditions without a particular focus on rad downhill turns, just getting out. If my plans change in a year or two, well, like you said, buy more gear!

The boot my buddy recommended was the Alpina 1550 BC nnn boot (presuming it fits, of course). Keeping in mind it's not as burly as a tele boot: thoughts?
