12/6/09 looking for advice on skin sizing

just got a pair of Black Diamond Kilowatts. they are 175cm, with dimensions 115, 90, 110. My search for skins shows Black diamond sells a 110cm model. that leaves 5 cm on both sides of the tips. Is that ok or should I go up to the 125cm purchase? Also, the tip clips on the REI spec sheet says they fit up to a 105cm? tip That can't be right...or do I have to get a different set of tip clips? Any input would be great.

The new adjustable tip will fit a wide variety of tip widths. Not saying that the ones you are looking at are the current model. Call BD to give the current ski (they know) and the model of skins and they will tell you if compatable.

5mm at the tip is no prob at all. especially if you are saving more than 5 bucks on them!

Agreed. You'll barely notice, if at all, the tiny (1 mm x 10 cm-ish, after trimming) sliver of missing skin.

I recently gave an older (tan) pair of Kilowatts to a friend, and your dimensions don't sound correct. The BD list 175cm as 125-95-113 for the current version & mine were about the same (or maybe exactly the same).

That said, 110 cm skins will still be fine....

I have identical Kilowatts (original version but same dimensions) (they are 125 or 6 at the shovel) and just ordered the Custom STS 173-180cm, 110mm width from BD after consulting with a sales rep.  You don't need the 125 mm skins. BD no longer offers custom cut to width for their skis, so they have to be shaped, but these will adjust in length for later/other skis. 
I got the mohair mix, to try for more glide, but that's a different subject.
