Feedback wanted - avalanche courses at Baker? was created by SeaTacExpat
Hi,
I was curious if anyone here had any experience with the avalanche safety course offered at Mt Baker:
www.mtbaker.us/info/mec/mec200
Looks like an AIARE level 1 course, but isn't listed as such.
thanks!

It's not an AIARE course...

If it's the course taught by Michael Jackson I've heard very good things about his teaching style and knowledge

Michael Jackson's course is ASAP (
www.alpinesafety.org/
) and it is excellent. No schedule posted for this winter, but he may also have courses that are not on the official schedule (chartered by a group) and may have space.

I believe this course is taught by the Mt. Baker ski patrol. I'm not sure who the lead instructor is but I would think these guy's are some of the more experienced in the NorthWest. Baker does get a lot of snow and they are responsible for all the control work.
