Removing old glue from skins was created by Larry_R
I'll admit that I have not kept up with this topic, so perhaps the following has been discussed before. In case not however, here's a little trick I discovered.
Deciding it was time to re-glue my Climbing Skins Direct skins, I started to remove the glue with with a heat gun and a broad bladed putty knife as I've done in the past. However, CSD skins have a rubberized backing, which I like very much, and the smell of hot rubber made me decide that I could very well wreck the skins with too much heat.
So I resorted to ironing on strips of paper from grocery bags and quickly became impatient at the slow progress. The paper just did not absorb that much glue, so I experimented. I found that strips of 'Handi Wipes' (disposable towels) really absorbed a lot of glue, and worked great, provided you pull the strip off right in back of the iron while the glue is still nice and liquid. Otherwise you create a giant fuzz ball.
It took only two applications of the strips to get all the glue off, instead of I forget how many it has taken doing it my old way.

That's a novel approach -- I do the hot-iron-putty-knife on mine, but they're not rubber backed.
