Red Pass near Lundin: Anybody skied it?

On Sunday I went over Red Pass and noticed it holding stale snow from a week or two ago probably thanks to it's north facing and protected/shaded attributes. I thought, I bet when most stuff is melted out like in June, you could hike up there and yo yo a couple runs. Melakwa Pass holds snow like that with the nice run down to chair peak lake, but getting to Red Pass on a nice trail is much easier in comparison. Looks like a nice run down from Red Pass on which you'd probably drift skier's right most of the way.

On a side note, the loop I did took 8 hours car to car vs the 4 I guesstimated. Went over Red Pass, down to the middle fork, walked west a couple miles along the river, then trail up to Snow Lake, back down to Alpy then back to the car. What a loop; would be a fun adventure mid winter with stable conditions. :)

It is a fun location in the winter. Did you hit the hot springs on your hike?

Awesome; thanks for the TR for reference. I didn't hit the hot springs. I'm not familiar with how you reserve that or if it's woth it? the pics of it look cool. It's probably a must-do to complete any legit local dudes check list. Yep, like you said, lots of vert. It's probably 3K vert from red pass to the river. Did you follow the old Cascade Crest trail or veer right into that nice looking open area? If you went left and on the old CC trail there are some large cliffs! Then, some very impressive old growth doug firs and hemlocks! Very cool and spooky down through there. Hmmm... I'm going to do that same loop I did on my sticks for sure. ::)

I like the rolling the eyes guy...

I hiked to the summit of Mt Snoqualmie with my son last weekend. We saw snow lingering from last winter in the high basin NE of the summit (above the crooked couloir). I bet you could find turns there in August during most years, but the approach is a bit of work. (You have to hike up Mt Snoqualmie, then scramble down from the NE ridge.) Hard to beat the short drive though.

That's true I've seen that snow patch. Maybe it will grow into a glacier! ;)
I'm always curious about the north & north east facing sides of our local peaks. Like the north facing/snow holding side of Silver Peak you can see driving down from the pass.
