Artist Point snow conditions? was created by Scole
Just curious if anyone's been up there in the last 2 days or so. I'd like to head up there this weekend for some photography. I'd like to think some of that 4" of snow is still around but I see that the snow at Stevens Pass and Paradise has melted away already..

Thanks!

This is just speculation from my internet surfing, but I think that the storm was pretty spotty with precipitation amounts. The fact that many of the telemetry stations have been on the fritz hasn't helped with trying to figure out how much snow fell. The lowland stations on wunderground.com show a storm total at Bellingham of around .75 inches, so maybe 8 or 10 inches. The storm total in Ashford was less than .10 inches, and the Paradise telemetry and the webcams seem to confirm that the S side of Rainier missed out.

Since the weather was noticably better than what was forecasted, I went up there yesterday. Patches of snow start around Heather Meadows (the road is gated at the ski area) but more consistant snow doesn't appear until 4800' or so. I hiked into the saddle between Bagley and Chain Lakes for sunset and more consistant snow didn't appear until 200' below the saddle. At the saddle, the snow was 2-3" deep. Conditions did look better out towards Mount Baker. Given the forecasts for this week, I'm guessing this should all melt away.

Here are a couple snaps:

Upper Bagley Lake and Table Mountain:

Mount Baker, just beyond the Chain Lakes:

Alpenglow over Nooksack Ridge and Ruth Mountain:
