Down here in Reno/ Tahoe, we have a nice Sierra wave that's developed from your low. "Burning Man" will be getting some steady winds, unfortunately.
* I looked at NWS' term, heavy snow. When they have situations where there is considerable uncertainty, they use phrases such as, "up to 12 inches" or "8 inches or more". Enjoy the first snowfall !
Also, it is an El Nino for '09/'10. Mammoth Mtn. is best on an El Nino - "windpack city"! on the "steeps", with no hiking required.
