Ya, I put in September and October turns on that slope last year.

I've seen it where that snowfield/glacier has cracks develop across it in low snow years. I was hoping someone had been up there recently and could provide an update.

I was up there the other day, currently - if you stay far enough climbers right on that slope - there are no crevasses, but the surface is mostly snice - good skiing on a warm sunny day, but not good for skiing on a cool day. The CD is in good conditions right now, except for a gigantic moat at the top of the roman wall. I posted a tr with a couple vids here . I hope we get some fresh snow soon!

Cheers

Hey Dan, would you call the snice on Heliotrope possibly skinnable in the afternoon or is that a lost cause?

hi Travertine, i'd definetly bring the crampons,  overall that slope seemed to be leaning a little on the icy side of snice conditions -- no problem to ski on a warm sunny day - but a pain in the ass to skin regaurdless.

got up above 10k on the CD the other day, what snow there was was still pretty good, the ridge (heliotrope) to the climbers right of the famous above mentioned slope is holding good snow, and you can access it with minimal crevasse muddeling. i posted a tr here -- cascadeclimbers.com/forum/ubbthreads.php...owflat&Number=910157
