Hey all – a friend of mine is having a Climb for Life gathering this Wednesday night in South Seattle. The money goes toward the same charity as the Rock Bottom Climb for the Cure event that some of you skiers/climbers attended this past April and in April ’08, which was advertised on the CascadeClimbers homepage (as is this year's event, but under the "events" forum).
So, come on out & applaud Martha’s efforts by extending a hand (and a couple of bucks that would otherwise go toward lunch) in helping her cause. Heck, beer is included and the grill will be runnin’, so there’s no excuse since its midweek & you won’t be out in the hills anyway.

I need to raise a little more money for Climb for Life, so I am hosting at BBQ at Ashlie's place. Many of you already know about climb for life... but in case you don't, this is a great event that brings together climbers to raise awareness and money for ovarian cancer. All of the money that I am raising goes directly to the HERA foundation ( www.herafoundation.org ) to support ovarian cancer research. I probably don't need to tell you why this is an important cause since by now, most of us have been impacted by cancer in some way. 1 out of 57 women will be diagnosed with ovarian cancer this year. With early detection, the survival rate is 90%, but unfortuantely there is no early detection test and only 24% of cases are caught early.
So I am asking that you enjoy a summer night with me on Wednesday, August 19th. Bring a donation ($5 - $10 suggested) and I'll provide a keg of Roger's Pilsner. We'll have the grill running and I will have some snacks and condiments, but bring your own meat/tofu product to put on the grill.
