RIP Outdoor and More

Found out today the O&M is scheduled to close in mid-September. That's too bad. I liked the place, found the staff helpful and have dropped many paychecks there. Apparently not enough. The shelves were getting thin but there were lots of packs, some climbing gear still there. Hopefully we don't lose any more local gear shops.

That sucks -- a great source of decent quality, inexpensive gear and the occasional excellent find.

oh no. first the Swallow's Nest. then Ernst and Chubby n Tubby. and Warshalls, where I could buy everything I really needed to live. This and heat waves is the last straw. I'm packing up for somewhere in Alaska. oh wait, the army navy surplus place on First Ave is still there.

Was in there once when a customer came in and asked if they sold ammo.

Guy walked out from behind the counter in front of him, pointed at the door and told him to "get the f.... out".  Which I liked as a display of conviction in his beliefs and a willingness to get beat/canned for them.

Unfortunately their closing eventually always seemed somewhat of a foregone conclusion.

I'd bet lease on the store got priced way out of their reach? There's a hell of a lot of development going on around there.
