Sorry to say, but you don't have to worry about temperatures and corn and all that: the NFNWR is long gone this year. The route does not even exist as continuous snow or ice anymore, and the lower half is essentially all bare rock. See this report on CC,
Mt. Adams - Adams Glacier 7/14/2009
(and the
Flickr photoset
), which has lots of good photos including this one:
Even a month ago, in late June, the route was a mess, as seen in this photo from an earlier CC TR, Mt Adams - Adams Glacier 6/27/2009 :
For comparison, here's how the route looked on June 24, 2006, when several of my amigos skied the NFNWR, while I and two others skied the Adams Glacier:
That's a night-and-day difference in snow coverage for the same week in 2006 and 2009. Although 2006 was a slightly above-normal snow year in the southern WA Cascades, just like 2009, I think that the very dry spring really killed things this year. Plus I think that there is also a large long-term effect, as the amount of permanent snow and ice on the NFNWR has decreased substantially over the last decade, just as it has on the Muir Snowfield and almost every other glacier/snowfield in the Cascades.
