Snow on St. Helens? was created by crystal_mt_dreamin
Guessing probably no, but just came across a permit for St. Helens on Tuesday. Is there enough (any?) snow up there to make it worth bringing a splitboard?

You could easily tell from the car @ the Climbers' Bivouac. I skied it exactly 4 weeks ago and we wore sneakers all the way to the rim-though one guy was able to follow snow more of the way using snow creepers. There was continuous snow for about 1500' skier's L of Monitor Ridge. I booted back up for another lap down the gullies skiers' R of the standard route and got about 2300', but had a vigorous traverse back E to the first snowfields right at treeline. That line would be discontinuous now, I'm guessing.
This is all old info., and I haven't seen any recent TRs. Try contacting GPNF, or other websites such as cascadeclimbers.com. !Buena Suerte!

For what it's worth...
Got a good look at the South Side from Mt Mitchell on Monday, pretty dry up there. What little snow I saw was tucked deep into the Worm Flows and looked scarce and dirty. Never say never, but I don't know if it would be worth humping the extra weight at this point.

Ended up not schlepping the gear, and it turned out to be a damn good decision! If you're looking for turns right now I'd suggest not going to St. Helens.
