Mt St Helens Board Game was created by mzchristy
Just recently, Jason and I paid a visit to the shelter at Horse Camp at the base of Mt Shasta. We were pleasantly surprised to find the shelter well stocked with books, newsletters, and games. Having summited the day before, we were in no hurry to climb anything else (the rest of our ambitious party headed up to Shastina). Under the pile of magazines, chess boards, and climbing logs, I stumbled upon a most curious board game! It looked old and fairly obscure (homemade, perhaps?). It was called the Mt St Helens Board Game (or somthing along those lines). The object of the game was to get to the crater and back out to safety before the mountain erupted. Players were directed around the board via a series of action cards and mountain activity per date and time.
I have searched for copies of this game on eBay and cannot seem to find any mention of it anywhere. I was hoping someone on TAY might know the origins, history, creator of this game and how I might be able to score a copy!!

I think I remember that game. Is that the one where you discover bergschrunds, roll the dice for avalanches, and find lost snowboarders for bonus points?

To be realistic, it should also include a lengthy pre-climb bout with bureacracy to get your permit, snomobilers yelling at your dog in the parking lot, and getting so stoked on the ski down that you follow the gully past the obvious trail entrance...
