Washington Pass Conditions?

Specifically, the area above the hairpin turn? I’ll be in the area this weekend with family and don’t have time for a proper tour. If possible I’d like to hit one of the roadside attractions in the morning.

We were up there last weekend and while we didn't ski above the hairpin (we skied up to Blue Lake Col from the Blue Lake trailhead and back down that same side), the stuff above the hairpin was looking a little boney and I have to imagine after this week of crazy high temps it's even bonier now. The biggest concern in that area for me are the moats that open up in the late season.  One almost ate my friend a few years ago.  The ski down from Blue Lake Col was fun and there was still ample snow.  It's a good quick hitter if you've only got the morning.

I was the friend who escaped the maw. Those moats are nasty, though they seem most problematic a little up-valley, by the modified-bday tour exit. Still, the line down from Blue Lake Col to the hairpin was looking chewed up and I spoke with some folks who said it had melted out a bit at the top. I think Becky's Blue Lake TH side is the best bet for a quickie...
