Cracks for practice was created by Schwerkraft
Hey
A friend and I are looking for a crack or two similar to the one found in the following post for some rescue skillz upgrades...
www.turns-all-year.com/skiing_snowboardi...86dd884&topic=5217.0
Anybody any pointers from recent trips on MR around paradise area? Paradise glacier? Maybe even GPS coordinates
?
Thanks

Wander out onto the Nisqually. You won't need to go far...the cracks are widening as I write this.

Here's a pictorial guide - these slots are pretty close to Paradise and saw a lot of use last weekend for the same purpose (as the pic shows...).
And yeah, they are widening by the hour. Some of the old boot pack/ski lines might go over snow bridges that aren't trustworthy any more. Keep that in mind as you approach the slots and get set up. Have a good time!

We had to negotiate some gnarly sharp "S" turns through some sketchy looking cracks on Nisqually Sunday afternoon. The bridges were definitely sagging. I had one start to sink with the bottom of my ski.
Make sure you get some bomber placements for pro...that snow was getting REALLY mushy...
JimH and ron j - nice pics of the cattle herds. I guess there were some classes practicing crevasse rescue this weekend.
