Getting skin glue off skis?

Skinning in the warm weather has caused an unusual amount of skin glue to stick to the base of my skis. It doesn't really scrape off. Anybody had experience with an effective way to get this off? Heat or solvents? Should I get it all off before waxing the skis again or might the waxing process get it off?

Waxing was the first thing that worked for me - just scrape/ brush like mad to keep wax out of the skins in the future (you may already know this, but brushing waxed skis was foreign to me as a neophyte).

Yeah, a nice thick hot wax, scraped while it's still warm, will get a lot of that skin glue off... That's what I do if it's bad. If it's small spots, I usually use a little citrus cleaner, but that drys out the Ptex so you usually need to wax it immediately anyway.

Boy do I need this post after last weekend! I think it was bad b/c I left the skins on the skis facing the sun to dry out.

Goo Gone Spray Gel works pretty good for cleaning your ski bases.

Are you sure it's skin glue and not pollen?

The best way to get pollen off is simple dish soap, rub it on directly and rinse with water.
