sierra corn season question was created by Eli3
I'm going to be in the bay area for a few days in early june, and was thinking of going on a tour - does anyone have any suggestions for two or three days within driving distance of the bay area?

Lassen may be an alternative.

I would probably head over Sonora Pass towards Bridgeport/Twin Lakes or Tioga Pass, just based on the terrain. Tioga seems like a particularly good bet - there's lots to ski there and its high. You can usually get up from the E side before the pass is open.
But, I have no clue what the snow pack is like. Zap or one of the CA posters might want to weigh in on that. Maybe Lassen or even Shasta would be a better bet by June?

We were just there a week ago doing a long tour.... By June, things might be a bit on the bony side this year as the coverage, although great in area, was not great in depth in the area we were in (North Lake to Paiute). Coverage further north than we were was better but two more weeks of very warm temps and no precip may take care of that. Tioga Pass and Sonora Pass, as JimH suggest, do put you pretty high but on our trip we started at 9K and still didn't put skis on until 10.5K.
A good idea before you go might be to call Wilson's Eastside Sports in Bishop or Mammoth Mountaineering for some beta on what conditions are like on the east side.

Sonora Pass just opened last weekend this or Tioga Pass are your best bet. Call Mammoth Mountaineering and talk to John Elsworth or Bill Cox they get out all the time and should know whats up.

Calling either Wilson's Eastside Sports or Mammoth Mountaineering is an excellent suggestion. I second that.
Be sure to ask about the hot springs when you call.
