Anyone ski Fuhrer Finger this weekend? was created by snow_crystal
We were going to ski the Fuhrer finger this weekend but we figured it would be a bowling alley and we didn't want to be the pins. Not to mention the postholing. Climbed gib ledges instead. Did anyone ski it this weekend? Would love to hear how conditions were.

We (and at least 2 or 3 other parties) rode it on Sun, 2 tracks in it from Sat. The finger firmed up nicely overnight, so cramponing, no post holing in the chute. There were lots of small pebbles coming down and the occasional grapefruit-sized rock that made that strange UFO sounding noise, so rock fall was definitely a concern! We traversed out onto the Nisqually (the cleaver looked ugly) and there it was really windy and the post-holing was kinda bad, but we were behind a strong party of 3 from Bozeman and the guy out front did all the hard work. The winds were making us pretty miserable and knocking us around on our tired legs, so we called it a couple of hundred feet below the rim.
The upper Nisqually was soft packed powder and smooth. The ride down the finger was absolutely ripper corn, no stops from 12K to 9.5K. Stoked to have ridden it in such good conditions.

At the bottom of the Nisqually chute on saturday, I ran into two guys that were just coming off the Wilson who had skied the Finger. I ended up giving them a ride back to Ashford. They had climbed up gib ledges and said they had great conditions for the ski down the finger.
