Needed: roommate who skis was created by climberdave
Hey all,

Thane’s moving to Boulder CO the first week in May leaving a hole my house (I rent, but it’s mine until Nov 09). Anyway – I am looking for a new roommate who shares similar values and wants to live in a sweet house in a quiet neighborhood on the top of Phinney Ridge. A brief description about the house:
3 bedrooms 2 baths (2 bedrooms downstairs and I live upstairs) hardwood floors throughout the house (oak up, bamboo down), living room, dining room, eat-in kitchen, wired for surround sound but not currently hooked up, laundry room with washer/dryer, plenty of storage, nice gardens (front and back) and an outside HOT TUB! The room for rent includes additional space (Thane uses it for his yoga studio), private bathroom, the third bedroom that’s kind of a common area (I would like to turn it into a ski workshop, but who knows).

Within very short walking distance to great restaurants, bars, a small grocery store, a local hardware store, and really almost anything you need. Meanwhile, Green Lake and Ballard are only five minutes drive in either direction. Also, catch the #5 Metrobus a block away at 65th and Phinney Ave for a direct 20minute ride to downtown!

Rent is $1050, though I may be willing to negotiate. Utilities are additional, but on-street parking is FREE and generally plentiful.

About me:
37 y/o professional guy who’s into skiing (alpine and BC), backpacking, mountaineering, sea kayaking, trail running bla, bla, bla. I’m very liberal, but work in a conservative atmosphere and do just fine, like to cook, IPA is my favorite style of beer and I listen to all types of music (usually mellow). I’m looking for someone who’s chill, clean, and drama free - no significant others moving in after a week. Bonus points if you like to BC ski and are itching to ski Volcano's :)

If you or someone you know is looking for a place until Nov 09 or longer just send me a PM and we’ll grab a beer and talk

Sweet neighborhood. Used to live there, college days, back in the 70's. Phinney Ridge Cafe was one of Seattles' best places to hang (as was Beths' Cafe at Greenlake, although PRC had more going on). Heard that it came upon hard times, but maybe it came back?

And don't forget to point out that Woodland Park, a short walk from the ridge, is one of Seattles finest, with lots of endurance training opportunities, fun gardens, nooks and crannies. It was first built and paid for as a private park, by some guy by the name of Phinney... :)

O.K. folks; Thane is safe and sound in CO, but he's paying two rents and that's a drag.  He's willing to subsidize the rent until November and after we (as in you and I) can work something out.

At the moment the back yard is in full bloom (cherry's, grapes, tomatoes, ornamentals) and the Robin's (birds) have hatched under the back deck near the hot tub, so you can listen to the babies chirp as mom and dad feed them.  It's quite a relaxing place and lately I've been grilling out for patio dinner parties and using the chiminea fire pit and hot tub to relax.

If you like quiet yet close to great amenities this is the place.

Happy skiing
