Mechanix Work Gloves are pretty good. Usually around $20.00 at any auto parts store. They are really durable, comfortable and breathable.

Plus, you can get in pink... (or black)

Ninja Ice gloves. Gardening gone extreme! And at $7 a pair, can't get a better deal.

I've been using an OR P100 lightweight liner glove on chilly mornings and cold winds along with a BD Dry Tool glove for hands on climbing and skiing.  The Dry Tool is a Scholler material with a supple leather palm.  Mine have broken in and I can put them on over the liner glove for unexpectedly cold situations.  I like the combo well enough and I nearly always cary two pair of gloves anyway.
For wet and warm spring conditions my favorite glove so far have been my waterskiing gloves (but I lost 'em).  They should be tight until you break them in but then they work great.  Excellent dexterity, plenty of mesh for breathing and drying and light weight.  Good ones aren't cheap but ought to last awhile.  They are not too dissimilar from the mechanics gloves but intended to handle moisture and tend to fit closer.

Some asshole that I ski with uses welding gloves.  I am supprised that he didn't mention it. ;)

Spandex garden gloves with Nitrile palms if the weather is nice. Two pair for $10.99 at Fred Meyer . . . some Scholler gloves if it gets colder, the above-mentioned BD Dry Tool is nice; I also have some old OR Jet Streams that I like but are no longer available, though they probably have some comparable model now.

One caveat: The nitrile palms stick to skin glue like nobody's business, be careful!

Kinco work gloves, generously slathered in SnoSeal (beeswax) won't let you down. Lined in winter, unlined in spring. I find that they repel water better than goretex when treated.

Once the recession is over I may upgrade to the pigskin variety for 10 bucks over my 3 dollar cowhides.
