Actually, that was my girlfriend using my screen name.

Agreed-
I stripped two screws hand tightening skis with titanium topsheets and soft wood core.
I tapped the skis before putting in the screws, so it was a real mystery. And hand tightening...really I'm not that burly. I considered the heli-coil, but the screw location was not that critical to the load, so I decided to use the method I described above filling the hole with a dowel/epoxy and re-drilling the same hole with a smaller bit. With a heli-coil you need to drill an even bigger hole to seat the heli-coil, but they are bomber as Pete-H suggests.

CORRECTION: As Pete_H's shop savvy girlfriend suggests. :D

Thanks for the reply s. I think I'm going to go ahead and do it myself now as I dont want them anywhere near my skis at this point. They also mounted centerline when I asked for 1.5cm back so I will have to drill new holes. Overall a really poor shop experience, and definitely think twice before shopping at or having work done by Berg's ski shop in Eugene.

I've had a lot of success over the years by drilling a 1/2" hole and inserting a 1/2" hardwood dowel.
Works if you need to move the hole a small distance.
